Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) -- in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has embarked on a new drive to recruit and retain top professionals.
Among methods being used is the construction of talent towns. There will also be policy guarantees for those settling in and continued evaluations of how the newcomers are coping and whether they are happy, according to local media reports on Dec 1.
In order to solve the housing problems of recruits, the zone plans to build residential areas for them along Shubo Avenue, with cultural attractions, a beautiful environment and tourism and community facilities.
The forerunner of them is the science and technology talent town, with a total construction area of 140,000 square meters. The first batch of six completed high-rise and smaller buildings for newly arrived professionals comprises 379 units, with a total floorspace of 46,000 sq m.
At the same time, the zone has drawn inspiration from the housing policies of other places.
It has issued interim measures for housing management in the talent town, expanded the policy coverage to the whole city, proposed sales discounts of 40 percent and 35 percent for talent at different levels and established a housing policy support system combining rewards, sales, leasing and subsidies.
