GETDZ moves to attract more top talent

Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- unveiled a trial initiative to recruit top people on Dec 24, aiming to increase policy support for talent introduction and cultivation in a range of ways.

The new measures mainly focus on aspects of recruitment, training, talent cultivation, scientific research funding and innovation and entrepreneurship.

The initiative will help the construction of a development zone and modern industrial new town with an annual output value of 100 billion ($15.31 billion) in southern Guiyang, as well as promote high-quality and high-level economic and social development.

In terms of talent introduction, the measures encourage employers to recruit top innovative and entrepreneurial people with high attainments and outstanding achievements in academic and technological fields, who can drive the economic and social development of the zone.

After being recognized as high-level talent -- by the province, city and zone -- they will enjoy preferential policies and convenient services over a period of five years. In addition to policy support for topflight people, the zone will also provide policy incentives to recruitment consultancies and talent recruitment units.

The measures also encourage top people in scientific and technological research and development, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The zone will encourage them to undertake major national, provincial and municipal sci-tech projects, promote commercialization of sci-tech achievements, support enterprises to strengthen cooperation between industry, university and research -- and give financial subsidies to qualified teams or individuals.
