Guiyang eyes accelerating recruitment of big data talents

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has achieved significant results in leading innovation, optimizing the entrepreneurial environment and accelerating talent recruitment using big data.

In terms of platform construction, Guiyang has continued to build talent-bearing platforms such as national and provincial engineering technology research centers, engineering laboratories, key laboratories and technology business incubators. The aim is to accelerate the gathering of high-quality big data professionals.

In 2020, Guiyang's municipal bureau of big data development and management allocated a total of 34 million yuan ($5.31 million) to support the work of key big data research institutions.

Through a series of activities, such as the Guizhou Professions Convention and China International Big Data Industry Expo, a large number of big data talents have been attracted to the city.

In 2020, the total number of talents in Guiyang reached 963,000, of which more than 176,000 talents were involved in the big data industry, accounting for 18.3 percent of the total. The big data industry has become the main carrier for attracting talents to Guiyang.

In terms of talent cultivation, Guiyang has integrated training resources and trained big data professionals in an order-based manner.

The city signed cooperation agreements with Peking University, Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other key universities and scientific research institutions. It has also established the Guiyang University Scientific Research Institute Technology Innovation Alliance to cultivate and transport information technology talents and provide intellectual technical support for big data companies.

Moving forward, Guiyang will take the industry platform construction of Shubo Avenue as the lead, gather more high-level talents to be leaders and support the rapid development of Guiyang's digital economy based on the polarization and scale effects of industrial clusters.
