Guiyang, Guian work together to attract talent

Since the start of this year, Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have made efforts to introduce skilled workers, provide them with preferential services, and promote employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The two places have formulated 11 plans for the development of skilled workers in advanced equipment manufacturing and modern service industries, proposing to introduce and train 6,800 workers for various key industries by 2025. So far more than 1,200 people have been recruited and trained.

Relying on development zones and industrial parks, Guiyang and Guian have built national and provincial innovation platforms to gather innovative workers.

In 2021, two new academician workstations, three postdoctoral workstations, one national key laboratory, and two key engineering research centers were added in Guiyang and Guian, as well as three provincial incubators, one provincial key laboratory and one engineering technology research center.

By paying a portion of workers' salaries and offering companies talent recruitment rewards, Guiyang and Guian have cut the costs incurred by businesses when hiring workers with advanced skills.

This year, Guiyang has allocated 30 million yuan ($4.71 million) in research funding, and invested 61.78 million yuan in application research and development funds.
