Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently rolled out eight support policies targeting 275,800 fresh graduates from colleges and universities in the region.

These aim to ensure 50 percent of the graduates find employment or start up businesses in Guiyang and Guian New area.

Under the policies, graduates who start their own businesses will be given a one-time start-up subsidy of 5,000 yuan ($786) and a monthly subsidy of 500 yuan for business premises rental costs.

They can also apply for a business guarantee loan of up to 200,000 yuan in the start-up site, according to the regulations.

For graduates with employment difficulties, a subsidy of 1,000 yuan per person for job hunting and entrepreneurship purposes can be given.

Graduates are encouraged to participate in entrepreneurship and innovation competitions or skills competitions at all levels, with maximum financial support of no more than 30,000 yuan.

Small and micro enterprises, private economic organizations and social organizations that employ graduates – who have not been employed within two years of leaving school – will be provided with social insurance subsidies for up to one year.

Graduates who have obtained certificates for vocational qualifications, vocational skills grades, special vocational abilities and training after self-study or personal paid training, will be given a vocational training subsidy of 600 yuan to 2,000 yuan.

For newly hired personnel from key industrial enterprises such as manufacturers and big data groups, a one-time settlement allowance will be issued: 48,000 yuan for those with doctorates, 24,000 yuan for master's degree holders and 12,000 yuan for undergraduates.
