Guiyang HIDZ advances intellectual property development

The Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has recently held a series of activities to mark the 22nd World Intellectual Property Day, which fell on April 26.

The Guiyang HIDZ has been doing this for several years to boost regional innovation capabilities and vitality, achieving impressive results.

As of Dec 21, 2021, enterprises in the Guiyang HIDZ had authorized 13,051 valid patents, including 2,449 invention patents, 9,612 utility model patents and 990 design patents.

Among the valid patents were 1,954 high-value patents, of which 1,549 were effective invention patents in strategic emerging industries, 14 won China Patent Awards, and seven were named high-value core patent projects in Guizhou province.

Meanwhile, the Guiyang HIDZ boasted 3,694 big data enterprise registration software copyrights, of which 1,417 were registered by enterprises above designated size.

It was also home to three national-level intellectual property demonstration enterprises, seven advantageous enterprises, and 19 provincial-level intellectual property advantageous enterprises.

In addition, it has four intellectual property agencies, 21 intellectual property service agencies, 18 patent attorneys and five intellectual property attorneys.

Power China Guiyang Engineering Corporation Limited, located in the Guiyang HIDZ, is one company that has obtained numerous intellectual patents.

As of the end of Feb 2022, the company held 2,199 valid patents and obtained a total of nearly 345 software copyright registrations.

It has ranked second in Guizhou province in the number of patent applications for the past five years.

Over the years, it has been named a National Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprise, Nationally-Recognized Enterprise Technology Center, Top 100 Independent Innovation Brand in Guizhou, and Innovative Leading Enterprise in Guizhou Province.
