The second National Skills Competition for Rural Vitalization was held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, from May 8 to 10.

After three days of competition, the Guizhou delegation won three gold medals, eight silver medals, five bronze medals, and four excellence awards.

The competition attracted 701 participants from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, with an average age of 25.6.

Competitors showcased their practical skills across 11 categories, including masonry, automobile maintenance, agricultural machinery repair, electrician work, and hairstyling.

All four representatives from Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area emerged victorious, with Zhang Guoyan from the restaurant service worker group winning gold, Lin Yan from the hairstyling student group securing silver, Cheng Chao from the electrician worker group earning bronze, and tea ceremony group participant Feng Danli receiving an excellence award.

Zhang Guoyan, who is 34 years old, currently serves as the manager of the catering department at a hotel. In her work, she always puts customers first and pursues perfection in service details. She previously won first place in Guiyang's skill selection competition for star-rated hotels and second place in Guizhou's skill competition for star-rated hotels.

"This is my first time participating in a national competition. I am honored to win the gold medal. I will take this award as a new starting point, continuously improve my skills, contribute to the development of the industry, inspire more young people to learn and use their skills well, and contribute to rural vitalization," Zhang said.
