Guiyang and Gui'an work to cultivate rural craftsmen

In recent years, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have set a target of cultivating 100,000 practical talents in rural areas, continuously establishing and improving mechanisms for nurturing rural craftsmen.

To date, Guiyang and Gui'an have trained one national master craftsman, 86 provincial master craftsmen, and 665 municipal master craftsmen, forming a high-quality and well-structured team of agricultural and rural talent.

Utilizing local resources and the advantages of characteristic industries, they have established databases of rural vitalization talent resources and demands, identifying especially skilled rural craftsmen who have the ability to drive industrial development.

So far, 665 rural craftsmen have been registered, specializing in skills such as embroidery, traditional architecture, carving and painting, traditional brewing, specialty food processing, and tea processing.

Qualified rural craftsmen are issued talent cards and benefit from preferential policies and convenient services. Village craftsmen are included in the evaluation scope for rural practical talent titles, with senior agricultural technicians receiving a monthly talent subsidy of 200 yuan ($28.12).

Over 1.3 million yuan is expected to be disbursed this year, incentivizing more talent to participate in rural vitalization, with eligible individuals enjoying policy benefits.

In addition, young returnees, vocational school graduates, university students, and leading figures in wealth creation have been included in the rural craftsman reserve talent pool and are encouraged to participate in rural craftsman skills training. 

This year, 31 training sessions focusing on livestock farming, tea processing, brand building, and e-commerce marketing have been conducted, with a total of 1,541 people participating.
