Guiyang and Gui'an advance employment strategies

The 2024 Employment News Briefing of Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, held on Dec 19, highlighted the region's progress in implementing employment-first strategies. These initiatives have maintained stable employment conditions and improved job quality in recent years.

Since the 11th Guiyang Municipal Party Congress in 2021, Guiyang and Gui'an have achieved over 150,000 new urban jobs annually, including 159,100 this year.

Key measures include aligning employment policies with the industrial, digital, agricultural, and cultural tourism sectors. By collaborating with departments such as development, commerce, and big data, Guiyang and Gui'an have stabilized and expanded job opportunities.

This year, Guiyang and Gui'an identified 368,000 job vacancies and provided 8.23 billion yuan ($1.13 billion) in aid to over 100,000 businesses, helping enterprises like BYD and CATL fill 18,000 positions.

Guiyang and Gui'an promoted targeted vocational training to bridge skills gaps, delivering 16,400 training sessions and certifying 44,800 skilled workers. Hosting the 2nd National Rural Vitalization Skills Competition earned the city accolades, with local participants achieving landmark victories.

Support for key groups also saw significant gains. Guiyang and Gui'an collected 196,900 job openings for youths, facilitated 291 job fairs, and recorded 126,000 new graduates staying or relocating. Initiatives for rural workers resulted in 23,834 employed laborers and 5,382 resettled workers gaining stable jobs.

To enhance services, Guiyang and Gui'an improved their three-tier employment system, introduced 18 odd-job markets, and supported entrepreneurship with 4.06 billion yuan in loans, creating thousands of jobs.

Strengthened oversight also ensured fair employment practices. The 2024 labor market cleanup inspected 426 businesses, rectifying irregularities to foster a fair work environment. These measures showcase Guiyang and Gui'an's commitment to inclusive and sustainable employment.
