Guiyang advances employment, talent development in 2024

Throughout 2024, Guiyang maintained a stable employment outlook, supporting enterprises and expanding job opportunities, according to a recent review by the Guiyang bureau of human resources and social security.

Guiyang prioritized employment growth, creating 388,000 job opportunities across key industries. Targeted services benefited 5,326 major enterprises, and 18,000 workers were recruited to address labor shortages for key firms like Geely and CATL.

Additionally, 906 million yuan ($124.35 million) in financial aid was allocated to over 100,000 businesses, ensuring stability. Urban employment rose by 159,100, exceeding annual targets.

The city supported 1.23 million rural migrant workers, monitored 120,000 out-of-province workers, and helped 62,300 unemployed individuals secure jobs. Special employment initiatives aided 24,237 poverty-alleviated workers and 5,420 relocated workers.

Skills training was a priority, with 205,000 individuals receiving professional training and 52,200 obtaining certifications. Guiyang excelled in the National Rural Revitalization Skills Competition, winning gold for the first time. The city also held 20 professional skill competitions, promoting 234 workers to senior positions and awarding 259 the title of "Guiyang Craftsman."

Guiyang's talent strategy yielded results. For the third consecutive year, its workforce grew by over 110,000, reaching 1.52 million. Recognized among China's top 50 talent-friendly cities, Guiyang attracted 130,600 new graduates and 5,460 industry professionals while introducing 3,120 high-level specialists.

This year, Guiyang will continue to enhance employment, entrepreneurship, social security, and income distribution, driving economic and social progress.
