The third Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China was held in Zhengzhou, Henan province, from Sept 19 to 23. A total of 86 contestants from Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province took part, winning one gold medal and 25 excellence awards.
Participant Huang Wenliang from Guizhou Traffic Technician and Transportation College claimed the gold medal in the Furniture Making event, while his schoolmate Feng Maotao was named "Best Competitor" in the Concrete Construction competition.

Other participants included Li Yuandu in the pharmaceutical preparation event, Shao Mingli in the Western cuisine cooking event, and Lu Bin in the plastering and drywall systems event, all of whom received excellence awards. The Guizhou delegation was also honored with the Outstanding Contribution Award.
This year's competition featured 106 events, divided into two categories: 66 World Skills selection events and 40 National Skills Championship events.
A total of 35 delegations, 3,420 contestants, and 3,275 judges participated. Alongside the competition, the program also included the Forum of A Strong Nation with Technical Education, skill exhibitions and exchanges, special showcases of unique techniques, media briefings, and interactive training workshops.
Notably, six contestants from Guiyang and Gui'an across five World Skills events were selected for China's training team for the 48th World Skills Competition.
During the event, employees from Guiyang and Gui'an enterprises, including Guizhou Qianjin Miao Clothing Co, Duide Coffee, and Guizhou GuiTea Group, staged demonstrations such as handmade embroidery, hand-brewed coffee and latte art with live explanations, and tea-mixing performances, showcasing distinctive cultural and vocational skills.
The competition is the highest-level national vocational skills event in China, known for its broad range of disciplines, large scale, and significant influence.
